Southern Luzon, Visayas and Western Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over the Western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. Tropical Depression ISANG (91W) consolidating over the Philippine Sea...tracking Northwestward...outermost rain bands spreading across Eastern Visayas and Coastal Bicol Region.

Forecast Outlook:
ISANG is expected to continue tracking towards the WNW to NW across the warm waters of the Philippine Sea. The 2 to 3-day medium range forecast shows ISANG passing about 250 to 350 km. to the east of Bicol Region late tonight and shall be about 200 km. to the east of Cagayan early Friday morning July 17. This system is expected to attain Tropical Storm status later today or early tomorrow.

+ Effects: ISANG's circulation continues to consolidate as it started to expand...Its outermost bands spreading across Eastern Visayas and the coastal areas of Eastern Bicol Region...Cloudy skies, possible light to moderate to sometimes heavy rains with squalls and thunderstorms can be expected along these bands. 1-day rainfall accumulations of 150 up to 250 mm can be expected along the storm's rain bands...with isolated accumulations of up to 300 mm near the center of ISANG.

People living around the slopes of Mayon Volcano in Albay & of Bulusan Volcano in Sorsogon - especially along the areas where possible MUDFLOWS (LAHAR) FLOWS (mixture of volcanic mud and water) are located must stay alert as moderate to heavy rains associated by this system are likely to affect the area today.

Rip Currents or Rip Tides can be expected along the beach-front areas of Western Luzon & Western Visayas.

Movement: West Northwest at 19 kph.

Tropical Disturbance 91W (LPA) slowly organizing over the Southern Philippine Sea just west of the island of Palau...currently located near lat 7.4N lon 134.0E...or about 970 km ESE of Surigao City or 1,270 km ESE of Bacolod City...with 1-min maximum sustained winds of 30 kph...remains almost stationary while embedded within the broad Monsoon Trough (ITCZ). Flooding over the hazard risk areas of Cagayan is likely during the next 6 to 12 hours.

This system will be closely monitored for possible development into Significant Tropical Cyclone within the next 1 to 2 days.

Current SW Monsoon Intensity: MODERATE
Cloudy skies w/ light to moderate to sometimes heavy occasional rains, thunderstorms, squalls and moderate SW winds not exceeding 40 kph can be expected over the following affected areas: WESTERN LUZON, PALAWAN, VISAYAS & MINDORO including BICOL REGION, SOUTHERN LUZON & METRO MANILA. Tropical Depression 05W (GORIO) accelerates...exits PAR...now threatens Southwestern China particularly Leizhou Peninsula and Northern part of Hainan Island.

Forecast Outlook: 05W is expected to become a weak tropical storm today and shall continue moving towards the West or WNW. The 2-day Short-Range Forecast shows 05W making landfall off Leizhou Peninsula by tomorrow afternoon and shall weaken rapidly into a disturbance as it moves overland across the China-Vietnam boundary by early Monday morning July 13. *Alternate Forecast Scenario: There's a possibility that NANGKA shall track more to the North and pass over Metro Manila tonight. This scenario is likely if the High Pressure Ridge off Northern Luzon weakens and allow NANGKA to move up.

+ Current SW Monsoon Intensity: WEAK. Cloudy skies w/ light to moderate occasional rains & some passing thunderstorms w/ squalls plus light to moderate SW winds not exceeding 35 kph can be expected over the following affected areas: PALAWAN, WESTERN VISAYAS & PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN BICOL AND EASTERN VISAYAS.
